Ceroc is a community club run by volunteers. Hopefully, you’ll help us too.
My dancing career started at the age of 19 when I lived in country towns. I began learning jazz ballet, moved on to classical ballet, and then modern ballet. I continued ballet for over 20 years, and then injury led me to search for another dance style.
I took Latin lessons and then began learning modern jive in 2003. I was given the opportunity of teaching at Ceroc Club Brisbane in 2006 and love it. I have competed in many competitions, taught numerous routines and given many workshops.
I enjoy teaching and watching people develop into competent confident dancers.
After holding the position of Head Teacher since 2012, I was nominated to take up the position of President. I believe that I can honour this role and take Ceroc into a vibrant and prosperous future.
I have been dancing Ceroc for over 20 years. I was seriously hooked the first night I ever went. Ceroc is an easy dance that can be danced to most kinds of music, and it’s a great way to meet new people.
I joined Ceroc Club Brisbane in 2001 as an instructor and committee member. I have participated in many dance competitions reaching a masters level in 2008.
As a member of many judging panels at Australian wide dance championships, I have witnessed the evolving nature of Ceroc since its inception in Australia. I have also choreographed many team routines over the years and it still gives me great joy to see the students totally engaged in the process of learning a routine to a new song. I love watching the students developing greater confidence with their own dancing and above all, having fun.
I joined this wonderful club way back in 1996 and started instructing a short time later in 1997. In 1999, I moved to the UK for two years where I continued to compete and teach dance. In 2003 I formed my own dance club for a short period of time. As well as modern jive, I have taken ballroom lessons and taught beginner ballroom classes for many years.
In 2004, I became president of the “Leroc Dance Society” as we were then called. Soon after, we became affiliated with Ceroc Australia and changed our name to “Ceroc Club Brisbane”. I continued as president until 2007. In 2019 I returned as president.
Hi I’m Chris and have been dancing Modern Jive for the past 17 Years and involved with Ceroc Club Brisbane since 2006.
Loving Modern Jive so much I decided to become a dance teacher and have taught this style of dancing for the past 8 years. My love of music and fun also led me to a successful career as a DJ and MC which I have absolutely loved over the last 30 Years.
Modern Jive is fun, social and easy to learn so I hope to see you at a class and on the dance floor real soon.
I have been a long-time member of Ceroc and part of the committee since 2007. I consider myself part of the history and memory of this Club.
I regard the performing of routines as the ultimate (though not only) reason for involvement in modern jive. I also emphasise the value of both learning the various moves taught at classes, and then incorporating selected moves into my personal repertoire.
I first joined Ceroc in 2011. I had recently returned to live in Brisbane and was looking to meet new people, have fun and rekindle my love of dancing. It took some courage to show up on my own but it was one of the best things I’ve ever done. Everyone was really friendly and I’ve met lots of wonderful people.
I have participated in numerous routines and joined the teaching team in 2017. I enjoy seeing people learning new moves and grow in confidence during the lessons and on the dance floor.
